Fall 2021
Rightous Design Project
The Portal Stool is the the Sand Stool counter part in the righteous design project. Using an iteration of four legged form in six legs, the portal stool is scaled down solid ash step stool. It is finished with an India Ink and a glossy polyurethane on the sides, bottom, and recessed circles, while the to top is finished in a danish soap.
The form, although very similar to the sand stool, is perceived very differently due to its surface design. The top layer of exposed ashe is the illusion of a thin skin sitting on top of a black body. The circles act as portals to this underlayer, adding to the concept.
