Flute vases are of a product of material exploration. During my first few months at RISD, I discovered and played with heating and forming acrylic plastic. Plastic has an amazing ability to take on organic forms while maintaining material strength and durability. I found that acrylic tubes were also capable of being vessels and led me to the idea of a vase.
Their curled shape balances upright with water, while the clear plastic reveals the plants’ stems making it an ideal place to showcase new propagations.
