Grad Studio III
Fall 2021
Self Directed Project
As part of the fall semester self directed project, the Horizon Lamp takes inspiration from metal spun industrial street lamps. I was initially interested in achieving a perfectly smooth industrial finish associated with spun metal. In fiberglass, I had more opportunity for color and surface design.
The lamp's base color feels warm and soft while the top is covered in a photographic texture of tree branches and sky. The colors change the perception of the smooth form and provides a second point of reference to the warm color of sand and an ocean horizon.
